Lip Swatch Saturday - Tarte 'Surfer Girl'

Sometimes you come across a lipstick that checks all of your boxes: creamy, pigmented, great color, and comfortable to wear.

For me, that lipstick is the Tarte Drench Lip Splash in 'Surfer Girl'.  It's one of my only lipsticks that gives me full colour payoff in one swipe - ONE!

I may only September, but I've already been to a couple holiday previews.  Which is not at all a problem, because holiday releases are my fave!  I live for a good gift set.

This past August I went to a holiday preview event for Shoppers Drug Mart, so of course I had to dress up to match the festive spirit.  Here is the look that I put together.

Remember when nude, mannequin-like concealer-lips were all the rage?

I do, because it was the first lip trend that I hopped on.  I went out and raided the Maybelline nude lipstick collection display at my local Walmart.  Some of the shades that I bought back then don't really work on me anymore, but I think that 'Nude Embrace' still does.

When I went to New York City last year for IMATS New York I made it a point to check out the store, "Ricky's NYC".

The Ricky's that I went to had a bunch of their Dose of Colors stock on sale for 50% off, so I had to pick up a lipstick, right?  I didn't even know that Dose had made solid lipsticks, as I had always known them to make liquid lipsticks.  But I was told that solid lipsticks was actually one of the first products that Dose's released - cool!

It took a special trip to Ulta, but I got my paws on the coveted Tarte Shape Tape.

I've seen this concealer all over YouTube, and they say that it's magical, so when  I got a 20% off prestige brands coupon from Ulta, I knew that this would be my chance to try it out.

Face of the Day - Staff Meeting Makeup

While I don't wear makeup to my weekend job *gasp*, I had a staff meeting during the week, and figured that I'd use to the opportunity to paint my face.

It wasn't going full-on glam or anything, but when an opportunity to do my makeup arises, I'll take it!

New Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid Swatches (via Snapchat)

If you aren't following Maybelline on Snapchat, you're missing out.  They post sneak peaks of their latest releases, as well as swatches.  This is the second coming of the Color Sensational Vivid Matte line, as the original 10 colours were released about a year ago.

Today they posted swatches of the newest 10 shades!

Summer Friendly Face Products

Right now, I think that we're in the 'honeymoon phase' of summer.  You know - that time where it's comfortable and warm, but with a nice breeze.  Then BAM.  The honeymoon is over, and it's August, and a million degrees, and you feel like your face is melting off.  So today I'm sharing some of my favourite products to wear in the summer, which help keep my face in one piece.

Maybe they're long-lasting, maybe they have skin benefits, but put them together and they make for a summer-proof look.

Face of the Day: MAC Zac Posen Palette

Happy Wednesday!  I'm attempting to do one 'Face of the Day' post per week, so here is one featuring a palette that I was super excited about.

When the makeup fairy brought me the Zac Posen 'Eye Z You' MAC Palette I was BEYOND excited.  I'm a fan of Zac's work, and I think that the look of  palette lines right up with his work in the fashion industry - lovely and able to appeal to the masses.

What's in my Makeup Bag: IMATS New York

It's almost time for my long-awaited trip to IMATS New York.  This trip has been in the works for a little while, so I'm super excited to go.  In fact, I'm so excited that I actually sat down and filmed a video about it!  This whole "sit down, talk to a camera, and edit the video" thing is very new to me, so hopefully it gets better with practice...starting with a better camera.
