With Stila's mix of matte and metallic finishes, you can create a variety of glam looks.

The palette features six modern matte and six super metallic shades in a range of pink rose golds, cool-toned pewters, and golden bronzes that suit all skin tones.  It's the one colour palette needed to design eyes that truly dazzle.

The Stila Matte 'N Metal Palette ($49 USD/$64 CAD) promises:
  • Long-wearing, true, vivid colour
  • Triple-milled pigments glide on smoothly; blend seamlessly
  • Wear wet or dry

In the look below, I applied 'Fringe' in the crease, 'Feathered' in the inner half of my lid, 'Velour' in the outer half of my lid, and put 'Retro' in the centre of my lid.  Then I applied 'Sequin' in the inner corner, and took 'Flare' onto the outer V and blended it into the crease.  I finished the look by applying 'Sizzle' on the lower lash line, and 'Vintage' on the browbone.

I really like the shade choices in this palette - I'm always a sucker for a dusty mauve shade, and I've been super into warm metallic shades.  However, I think the execution was a bit inconsistent in this palette.  The formula for shades like 'Feathered' and 'Flare' had a fair amount of kick-up, and the metallic shades resulted in a lot of fallout on my cheeks, after I applied them to my eyes.  What I did like about this palette was how nicely the metallic shades swatched, however when they were picked up on my brush, it was difficult for the product to transfer to my lids, which was a bummer (fingertips to the rescue!).  I wish that the pigmentation in the shades translated as nicely to my eyes as they did on my arm swatch - although 'Sizzle' packed an awesome punch on my lower lash line.

I'm going to try playing around with this palette a bit more, maybe I'll try applying the shades wet rather than dry (once I figure out how to apply wet shadows period).

You can find the Stila 'Matte 'N Metal' Eye Shadow Palette in the US at Sephora, and Ulta, and in Canada at Shoppers Drug Mart, Sephora, Murale, Sephora.ca, and beautyBOUTIQUE.ca.
