MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Liquid Matte - Review, Swatches, and Looks

YES!  I've been waiting for the day that MAKE UP FOR EVER joined the liquid lipstick game, and today is that day.

MAKE UP FOR EVER's recent launches have been fantastic (I've been especially fond of the Artist Rouge Lipsticks - review HERE and HERE).  But how do their liquid lipsticks compare?

"Achieve a covetable, long-lasting matte lip with MAKE UP FOR EVER’s new ARTIST LIQUID MATTE, a liquid lip with insane color payoff and an ultra-matte finish. Featuring a light, comfortable formula, ARTIST LIQUID MATTE won’t transfer or leave lips feeling dry. Choose from 6 highly pigmented neutrals ranging from a light, pinkish nude to a deep, chocolate brown, all delivering a flawless matte look with crazy long staying power."

This collection includes six wearable shades.

There has been somewhat of a consensus among people I know who have tried these liquid lipsticks that the shades look fairly similar in the bottle, but look very different when worn on the lips.  I'll also add that, at least in my case, the shades do lean different colours on different people (so the way I describe the colour might differ from how other bloggers describe the colour).  In addition, the shades look fairly different on my lips compared to the digital sswatches, in the photo above.

The MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Liquid Mattes ($25 CAD) contain 2.5 ml of product, compared to a standard size liquid lipstick, like ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip, which contains 3.2 g of product.  The applicator is a standard doe-foot applicator.

101 'Cream Beige' is a rosy peach shade.  The shade reminds me of the Wet n Wild Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick in 'Nudist Peach' (Review HERE).

105 'Rosewood' is a grey-ish brown pink - super pretty!  And bonus points for the Pretty Little Liars reference.

203 'Cold Pink' is violet pink.  It is the boldest shade of this collection, but it's still very wearable.  It's probably my favourite shade of the bunch.

The formula was consistent with these three shades.  When applying it, it felt like a full coverage liquid-y mousse formula.  It was an easy and smooth application, that felt light and almost powdery, instead of feeling like a thick paint.  And it only took one or two dips of the applicator, to cover my lips.

As far as wear time, the product lasted on me, budge-free, for about 4 hours.  After 4 hours, a ring in the inner part of my lips started forming, from the product fading, not gathering and gumming up.  I took it off after 7 hours of wear, without re-applying the product.  The only issue I had with the liquid lipstick was that when taking it off, after 7 hours of wear, there was a small gunky ring leftover on the inner part of my lips.  The only way I could remove the gunk was with a lip scrub.  But besides that one removal issue, I really like these liquid lipsticks, and hope that MAKE UP FOR EVER expands their line.
